Philip Lansdale’s intensive melancholic piece, of a society imprisoned within strict rules, the death of a love, the decline of an indebted household, at the Fin de siècle, transverses all the virtuoso dancing. Without using any superficial folklore, the infatuating, tastefully sensuous choreography is underscored, with a gorgeous smoke screened elegance and intoxicating Spanish music.
Thunderous Applause!
Jürgen Schmidt, Westfalen-Blatt
The choreographically told story by Bielefeld’s ballet director shows traces of his semantic interpretation of text, which we already had a small taste of with his “Peer Gynt”. He succeeds in producing many impressive moments, with his expressive dance pictures. And above all the pleasure he creates with his modern style, further establishes him in this, his second season.
